Resolution n. 825/2020 of the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) reestablished the national specifications of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG/GLP, in the Portuguese acronym) in an effort to improve product quality while simplifying regulations. The industry must comply with the new rules by March 1st 2021.
The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), through Resolution n. 825/2020, reestablished the national specifications of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG/GLP), unaltered since 2004. The main goal is to improve product quality by implementing component monitoring techniques aligned to international GLP specifications.
More specifically, the resolution updated residue analysis (stain method) and analysis of odorants in accordance with international standards from the international standards organizations ASTM International and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
The resolutions also amplified the number of municipalities covered by “GLP Inverno” (Winter LPG), a specific content provision for distribution of GLP during winter months, which were also amplified, from May to August.
The resolution comes into force on March 1st, 2021.
