Act n. 65/2020 from the Department of Plant Health and Agricultural Inputs at the Secretariat for Agricultural Defense (SDA/MAPA) introduced the registration of 42 crop protection products, all of which use active ingredients previously registered in the country. Their registration seeks to promote market competitiveness while undergoing analysis and approval processes by the respective health, environmental and agricultural authorities.

Act n. 65/2020 provided the registration of 42 crop protection products authorized for agricultural use. Among those, 13 are of low impact, 11 of which are biological products composed of microorganisms. The use of biological or biochemical control agents in product formulation represents a control alternative in combating pests, while increasing agriculture sustainability. Six registered products are authorized for organic agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) reinforces that all registered products were also analyzed and approved by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), according to scientific criteria and in line with the best international practices.

Altogether, 76 products considered of low impact (biological and organic) were registered in 2020, the highest amount ever recorded, according to MAPA.
