Licensing of offshore wind farms in Brazil is under public consultation

The Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) conducts a Public Consultation in order to receive contributions for the Term of Reference (TR) model that will guide the elaboration of environmental impact studies for offshore wind complexes. Offshore wind complexes have grown worldwide, driven mainly by oil companies seeking to reduce carbon emissions, and the Brazilian northern coast has great potential for investments in this sector of power generation.

The TRs are issued by Ibama in the initial stage of the Federal Environmental Licensing processes and aim to guide entrepreneurs regarding the preparation of environmental studies that will be evaluated during the licensing of the proposed activity.
The suggestions to the TR model can be submitted until April 9, 2020 at the Ibama website (link above).
