Provisional Measure: Emergency Program for Employment Support

The federal government published Provisional Measure nº 944/2020, establishing the Emergency Program for Employment Support, designed to carry out credit operations aimed at entrepreneurs, businesses and cooperative companies, except credit companies, with the purpose of paying their employee salaries. According to the government, there will be an investment of R$ 34 billion with financial support to 1.4 million different companies in the country, responsible for employing around 12 million people. Note: Provisional Measures are norms with force of law, issued by the President of the Republic in situations of relevance and urgency. Despite producing immediate legal effects, Provisional Measures need further consideration by the Houses of Congress (Chamber and Senate) to become ordinary laws.
