The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) launched a public consultation designed to survey the public opinion on the development of regulatory models to incorporate Distributed Energy Resources (DER), microgrid solutions, and virtual power plants to Brazil.

Public Consultation n. 11/2021 was launched by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) in order to survey the public opinion on the development of regulatory models to incorporate Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to Brazil. As disruptive innovations in the energy sector, DER such as distributed generation, microgrid solutions and virtual power plants require ANEEL to enhance its regulatory framework in line with international best practices, and, through the public consultation, by incorporating best recommendations from the public.

According to ANEEL, such innovations in electricity generation are expected to accelerate. As of June 2021, the Brazilian solar photovoltaic (PV) distributed generation reached 5.8 GW in installed capacity, according to agency.

Public contributions can be submitted through this form until September 9. A technical note and more information can be found at ANEEL’s website.
