The Brazilian Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) approved new rules for the registration of products, inputs and services under its regulatory scope. The new measures comply with the Law of Economic Freedom (Law 13.874/2019) and improve Conformity Assessment Procedures.
Resulting from a public consultation that ended in October 2019, Ordinance n. 258/2020 of Inmetro approved new criteria and procedures for the registration of products, inputs and services that are part of the regulatory scope of Inmetro and have a mandatory conformity assessment.
The new rules also complied with the Law of Economic Freedom (Law 13.874/2019), by adopting risk classification of products and modifying registration rules with regard to maintenance, renewal, suspension and cancellation.
New registrations and products that have already been granted registration shall follow the rules of the ordinance.
