The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) enacted product specification provisions that introduce JET-A, JET-A1, and other alternative fuels to the Brazilian market, as a means to increase the domestic supply of aviation fuel.
Resolution n.º 856/2021 from the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) enacted product specification provisions that introduce JET-A, JET-A1, and other alternative fuels (civil aviation kerosene) to the Brazilian market, as a means to increase the domestic supply of aviation fuel. The resolution stems from Public Consultation n.º 2/2021, reported in the 20th edition of the Regulatory Report.
The new resolution revoked ANP Resolutions n.º 778/2019 and n.º 779/2019, ruling the product specifications and quality control requirements for civil aviation fuels, and enabling imports and domestic production of JET-A, JET-A1, JET C, and other JET alternative fuels. It also provided rules for JET-A and JET-A1 mixtures. Product characteristics are in line with the standards from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International) and the Brazilian National Standards Organization (ANBT).
