The Foreign Trade Chamber (CAMEX) at the Ministry of Economy incorporated, to the Brazilian regulatory framework on foreign trade, a Mercosur resolution that provides additional import tariff exemptions for aerospace products.

The Foreign Trade Chamber (CAMEX) at the Ministry of Economy, through GECEX Resolution n.º 244/2021, incorporated Mercosur GMC Resolution n.º 12/2021 (tax rules for aerospace products) to the Brazilian regulatory framework on foreign trade, covering import tariff exemptions for aerospace products. According to the ministry, the new resolution expanded the amount of import tariff-exempt aerospace products by 19 subheadings of the Harmonized System (HS).

The new resolution provided import tariff exemptions to aircraft and other vehicles and their parts (under HS headings 8802 and 8803), flight training equipment and their parts (under HS subheadings 8805.21 and 8805.29), and products under 887 HS subheadings (e.g., parts and components) manufactured in accordance with technical specifications and aviation rules and destined for the production, repair, maintenance, transformation, modification or industrialization of aircraft and other vehicles and their parts.

According to the resolution, the importation of those 887 HS subheadings may be carried out so long as the importer provides a declaration of use, and an import authorization by the Brazilian aerospace authority is provided.
