The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), through Ordinance n. 327/2021, launched a public consultation on a potential regulatory framework for plant-based products, which commonly denominate processed products of plant origin that replace or replicate the characteristics of products of animal origin. The ministry seeks to survey the public opinion on the growing and increasingly diversifying industry of plant-based products, and the need for specific regulatory provisions, such as labeling requirements.

The consultation targets not only companies that produce plant-based products and their sector representatives, as well as companies producing products of animal origin that are commonly replaced by plant-based products, but also research institutions, government representatives, and regular consumers.

Public contributions can be submitted through this form until September 10. The form provides further information.
