The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), through the Ordinance n. 277/2020, approved a list of 60 selected topics of regulatory priority for agricultural defense in the biennium 2020-2021.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), through the Ordinance n. 277/2020, approved a list of 60 selected topics of regulatory priority for agricultural defense in the biennium 2020-2021.

The listing of priority themes follows actions provided by the Regulatory Quality Improvement Program (PMQR, in the Portuguese acronym) established in 2015 by the Agricultural Defense Plan (ADP/PDA).

Ordinance n. 277/2020 stipulated 60 priority topics for the regulatory process of MAPA’s Secretariat of Agricultural Defense. Such topics, without hierarchy between them, regard to transversal themes, animal and vegetal health and inspection, animal feed and agricultural and livestock inputs.

The editing and revising of norms by MAPA’s Secretariat of Agricultural Defense during the biennium shall adhere to this list. Topics not listed will comprise a secondary list to support the decision-making process of other regulations, but limited according to the Secretariat’s institutional capacity.

The ordinance also provides that the priority list will be revised by the end the first year, with the possibility of replacement of up to 20% of listed topics, given reasonable justification.
