The Ministry of Mines and Energy introduced to public consultation, for a period of 30 days, two guideline proposals concerning the export of excess energy from renewable sources. The enhancement of export and import modalities seeks to improve regional integration and energy capacity usage

Ordinance n. 288/2020 and Ordinance n. 289/2020 publicized public consultations n. 96/2020 and n. 97/2020 respectively.

The former promotes public debate of a guideline proposal regarding interruptible non-returnable hydroelectricity exports to Argentina and Uruguay, countries connected to the Brazilian electrical grid with whom bilateral trade on thermoelectricity had already been established with the enforcement of Ordinance n. 418/2019 in May/2020.

The latter promotes public debate of a guideline proposal regarding the export of excess renewable, non-hydroelectrical, energy to countries connected to the Brazilian electrical grid.

More information is available and public contributions can be submitted at the public consultations’ link (in Portuguese) until August 27.
